For Volker Wieland the ECB monetary policy is inadequate ("Nordwestzeitung")

According to Volker Wieland, the monetary policy of the European Central Bank (ECB) is not appropriate for Germany. Neither does he consider it necessary for the euro area. In a speech in the series "Economy and politics" of the employers' association in Oldenburg, Wieland explained the latest monetary policy measures of the ECB and the risks involved for financial stability.

Given the stable economic development in Germany and the euro area for Volker Wieland there is no reason for the massive interventions of the ECB. Instead, the monetary policy entails risks for financial stability and the reforms in the states of the euro area as some states tend to put off necessary reforms due to the low interest rate policy.
