In the ranking of Germany's most influential economists, Volker Wieland reached #42 in 2018. In its annual ranking list, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung compares the economists' influence in the media, in politics and in research.
Based on the analysis of the Swiss insitute Media Tenor, Wieland particularly scored in the research field where he was cited 433 times. Ernst Fehr of Zurich University ranks first, followed by Clemens Fuest of Ifo institute.
