Prof. Michael Haliassos has been holding the Chair of Macroeconomics and Finance at Goethe University Frankfurt since 2004. He is Research Fellow at the London Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), Founding Director of the CEPR Network on Household Finance and International Research Fellow of the Dutch Network for Studies on Pensions, Aging and Retirement (Netspar). As an expert for household finance, consumer and investment behavior and financial literacy, he is also advisor to the European Central Bank on the Eurozone Survey of Household Finances and Consumption since its inception in 2006. He has published many influential papers in these fields, among them leading international scientific journals such as the Review of Financial Studies, Review of Economics and Statistics, Management Science, International Economic Review or Economic Journal. He has also edited or co-edited a number of influential volumes with publishers such as MIT Press and Cambridge University Press. Haliassos received a B.A. with First Class Honours from Cambridge University, and a Ph.D. from Yale University in 1987 under the supervision of Nobel Laureates James Tobin and William Nordhaus.
