The creation of the banking union in 2014 was a reaction to the financial crisis, which was accompanied by significant progress in a common EU regulatory framework and the creation of a new European supervisory and resolution architecture. The topics of the conference are now the adjustments to the Basel III reform, developments in bank resolution, digital finance and sustainable finance.
The EBI was founded in 2016 as a research network on the banking union. The IMFS represents Goethe University as an academic member of the EBI.
