Foundation for Monetary and Financial Stability thanks Prof. Volker Wieland for his work on the Council of Economic Experts

The Foundation for Monetary and Financial Stability (Stiftung Geld und Währung) has thanked Prof. Volker Wieland, Ph.D., for his commitment to the German Council of Economic Experts. "The many annual and special reports produced during your time were and are a treasure trove of decision-making aids on the burning issues of the day. With great emphasis, you have always advocated the stability of the euro," said Prof. Dr. Thomas M. J. Möllers, Chairman of the Foundation Council, in praise of Wieland's work on the Council of Economic Experts. He added, however, that the Foundation welcomes the fact that Wieland will have more time for his activities at the IMFS in the future.

"With great dedication over many years, they have not only taken a very present position on current economic policy issues, but above all have also made scientifically in-depth proposals," said Prof. Michael Krause, Ph.D., Chairman of the Board of the Foundation.

Prof. Volker Wieland has been a member of the German Council of Economic Experts (SVR) since March 2013. His resignation took effect on April 30, ten months before the scheduled expiration of his second term on February 28, 2023. He is Foundation Professor of Monetary Economics and Managing Director of the Institute for Monetary and Financial Stability (IMFS) at Goethe University Frankfurt.

The IMFS's interdisciplinary research in money and currency, with a focus on central banks, is funded by the Foundation for Monetary and Financial Stability (Stiftung Geld und Währung). In the current ten-year funding period until 2027, the Foundation is supporting the academic center at Goethe University with a total of 5 million euros. The Foundation was established in 2002. The purpose of the Foundation is to maintain and promote public awareness of the importance of stable money.
