Helmut Siekmann is critical of complex rating regulation ("Handelsblatt")

According to "Handelsblatt" the central banks in Spain and Ireland have rated banks' collaterals wrongly. Professor Helmut Siekmann is critical of complex rating regulation.

A better rating of a banks' securities is an advantage when borrowing money from the European Central Bank (ECB), "Handelsblatt" points out. The better the rating, the less collaterals the bank needs to provide. Therefore, Siekmann supports simpler rules with the ECB as regulator controlling the rating.
