Volker Wieland about low interest rates and rising house prices ("Spiegel Online")

"Spiegel Online" cites a study of the website Immobilienscout24 according to which medium sized cities in Germany rather face a housing bubble than the bigger cities.

The study compares the development of purchase and rental prices in German cities with more than 100 000 inhabitants. Low interest rates are considered dangerous for the housing market. In an interview with "Spiegel Online" Volker Wieland had warned about the interest rate decisions of the European Central Bank. This could lead to increasing asset prices, above all on the housing market, he said.
