Volker Wieland advises ECB not to delay interest rate hikes (ZDF-Heute Journal)

Volker Wieland thinks that a tightening of monetary policy in the euro area is appropriate and has warned the European Central Bank (ECB) against delay.

"The high levels of government debt make it difficult for the ECB to raise interest rates in order to limit inflation," he said in an interview with "ZDF Heute Journal." However, he added, the central bank should not be intimidated by this, but should hit the brakes in good time.
