Volker Wieland expects inflation rates to rise further (ARD-Plusminus, Tagesschau.de)

In an interview with ARD-Plusminus, Prof. Volker Wieland assumes that inflation rates will continue to rise and that the European Central Bank (ECB) will have to tighten monetary policy. It could possibly raise interest rates at the end of the year.

"Because of the persistent inflation, it can be assumed that the ECB will also have to tighten its monetary policy similar to other central banks - perhaps a little later - and then also perhaps raise interest rates at the end of the year," Wieland said in an interview with the ARD magazine "Plusminus."
