Volker Wieland sees Germany's fiscal space as helpful for euro area (Bloomberg)

According to Prof. Volker Wieland, other euro area countries also benefit from Germany's fiscal space. "Countries like Germany and the Netherlands having this fiscal space now is good for all, because it provides a fiscal backup," he said in an interview with the news agency Bloomberg.

He added that this helps other countries getting market access. Many economists argue that Germany's so-called black zero approach has laid the groundwork for the government's rescue packages in the coronavirus crisis.
