Dr. Lucia Fabiola Franke studied law and philosophy at the Goethe University Frankfurt am Main and subsequently completed her doctorate in law on the topic "On the Treatment of Rule-Exception Structures in Legal Argumentation." In parallel, she pursued academy studies in computer science at the FernUniversität in Hagen.
She completed her legal traineeship at the Regional Court of Darmstadt, with placements including the Hessian Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (HBDI) as well as the legal department of Google in Hamburg. She then practised for one and a half years as an attorney in IT law, with a particular focus on data protection law and artificial intelligence.
Since July 2025, she has been a research assistant at the Chair of Civil Law, Commercial Law and Banking Law held by Prof. Dr. Katja Langenbucher at the Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, where she is pursuing her habilitation on information rights (Informationsansprüche). Her research focuses on civil law, civil procedure, legal philosophy, and artificial intelligence.
