IMFS Policy Lecture with Prof. Volker Wieland on December 4: "Dealing with Structural Change"

The prolonged economic upswing in Germany has come to an end. Furthermore, there are considerable risks to future growth: an escalation of the current trade disputes in particular could be very damaging to Germany’s export-driven economy.

Economic prospects are moderate, while structural change is imminent, arising especially from digitalisation and the need for a transition to a new climate policy. Against this background, a key objective of economic policy should be to strengthen the growth potential of the German economy. In his lecture, Prof. Wieland will present the Council's suggestions for dealing with these challenges.
