The IMFS mourns the loss of Heike Schweitzer

"We are shocked and very sad about her early death after a serious illness. It is a huge loss for us all. We will miss her very much. Our thoughts are with her family and friends."

Heike Schweitzer had been Professor of Civil Law, German and European Business and Competition Law and Economics at the Faculty of Law at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin since April 2018. As a proven expert in these fields, she also advised EU Commissioner Margrethe Vestager on issues relating to digitalization and competition policy. In addition to competition law, her research also focused on European economic regulatory law, state aid law, the law of digital markets and financial market law. From 2006 to 2018, she taught in Florence, Mannheim and at Freie Universität Berlin. Heike Schweitzer was a member of the Kronberger Kreis.

At the IMFS, we are very grateful for her outstanding academic contributions, her many collaborations with legal and economic scholars and her outstanding commitment to improving the legal and economic policy framework in Germany and Europe, and we join her in the following tributes.
